Fan Man Lighting: City West

Purchased a fan 10 months ago. Owner gave us incorrect information on the reverse on our fan, refused to accept a return on the fan and promised to order the correct reverse part as soon as possible and offered to have his electrician install. Every week we inquire about it, the owner keeps telling us his electrician will call by next week. It's been another six weeks of waiting for a call and nothing. We are out $400 for a fan that doesn't reverse to blow air down.

This guy is a complete rip off. Delivery twice as long as promised, said it would be delivered (I had to call to see if the parts were in) and was told to come and pick them up, tried to charge me double the price of the item (twice). STAY AWAY

If you are in the market for a new ceiling fan or light, you owe it to yourself to make your last stop City West Fan Man and Lighting in Eden Prairie. They have a very knowledgeable staff and great selection and they promise the lowest price on all their fans. The service was great and they even support you through the installation. Very pleased

Finding the parking lot was interesting, by the time you see the lot you are way past the entrance. There are quite a few fans and lights hanging, because of all the ones he can order you may have to visualize what the final fan will look like. Prices are a bit more then a box store.

When you go there to buy it is a total different customer service to when you come back when you have an issue They want to charge me 2 times the price of the fan sensor remote and will not accept return if it did not work with utmost arrogance I got it delivered free on eBay for half his asking price I will steer away from stores that does not stand by its products and by its promises When I bought the 2 fans and paid for its installment, the owner told me don't worry about the remote if it stop working we will replace it That's not what he told me when I went back! Arrogance and crooks!

I've bought a lot of lighting from this store. The ownership and sales people who work here are top notch. They give good information when it's asked for but they're happy to let you just shop on your own too. Great brands, fair pricing - often beating online prices, and outstanding service.

I so wish I needed a ceiling fan, because these are the most unique and funky ceiling plant fans I have ever seen! Also standard old fashioned and everything in between ceiling fans. I didn't need a ceiling fan so I was kind of bummed. I did find some interesting options for my dining room and my studio, I took pictures to show my husband. The man who helped me, the first thing he did was let me use the bathroom because I needed that right away.

Then he asked if I needed help. And he told me that some of the lights in here also came in families with different shapes and sizes. He also gave me the website and said I could look online and if I wrote down a model number he would price it out over the phone. I am hoping my husband likes some of the options I chose. I hope to be back!

I have purchased several lights from the fan man. EXCELLENT service and great prices. Mick is extremely helpful and knows his lighting. I will always go there for my lighting and fan purchases.

I had spent over one year online and driving to stores looking for the fans and lights that would take my rooms from boring to happy and functional. When I walked into City West Fan Man I immediately had the feeling that I had finally found "the place." The time and patience and knowledge I received was amazing and it made me feel comfortable. I found everything I had in my mind at a very fair price. There was one problem which was taken care of within one day. I am now searching for lighting for another project and tomorrow I am heading back to the best place to shop!

I have purchased many light fixtures from here over the years and the customer service I receive is always top notch! The light fixtures are great, they customization on fixtures they offer is immensely helpful in making the lighting in my home cohesive, and they are always so helpful.

This is a great place if you need a fan! It's not a huge shop but it holds a surprisingly large and varied selection of fans. We like modern and we were impressed by how many options we saw. the Twin Cities is typically more traditional so we were quite pleasantly surprised. We were also pleasantly surprised by the prices, which were very close to the discounted internet prices.

The salesperson/owner was VERY knowledgeable and really helped us pick the right product for our somewhat complicated set of requirements. The lighting selection is smaller and more basic but for fans, this is THE place.

Let me show you another side of the Fanman. We purchased a fan with up and down lighting, 18 months ago. Well, 1 month ago the down light stopped working. The fan is guaranteed for life, but the lights for only 1 year. I contacted Mick about the problem. He had a repairman come to my home, make the repairs, and they picked up the cost. I will forever be a customer. Great job guys. Dan

I'm very thankful that City West Fan Man Lighting not only has an amazing selections of new fans & all kinds of lighting, but they also help with tricky repair needs. My wife and I needed specialized work done on two of our ceiling fans with lighting attachments. I tried all that I could do, but ended up bringing the damaged parts in for repair. They did an amazing job and our ceiling fans are as good as new now (and at a reasonable price)! I REALLY thought one attachment was unfixable. I will be back whenever we are adding new lighting or fans in the house!

After a lot of research on ceiling fans and checking out various big box stores, I stopped in at Fan Man. I was impressed with the depth of knowledge of the staff and their selection. I bought two "high end" Casablanca fans. More than I originally planned to spend, but considerably less than I would have paid elsewhere or online for the same product.

We had two minor problems with the fans (manufacturing defect on a blade and a faulty remote). Ed at Fan Man made sure that both problems were handled promptly with the manufacturer. I also bought a new chandelier at Fan Man that was perfect for our dining room and unavailable elsewhere. These folks know their stuff, have a surprisingly large selection, are price competitive, and provide excellent customer service.

I stopped in and purchased a wall light that was on sale. When I got home my wife liked it but thought we should get a matching one for the other side of a picture in out living room. OK 28 mile each way, drive back to store, took light with so I would get a matching one, was told we will have top order that, it will be a couple weeks, I leave the original so they can be sure to order right light. go back 28 miles each way to pick up light, new one is 34% more than the original (was never told price). get it home and entirely different light (different color, size). OK another trip out to store to take that one back, and wait a couple more weeks for the new one.

When I make a 5th trip out to store to pick up the (Finally) correct one, was offered only half of the extra I had to pay for the wrong one and still ended up paying for cord that was returned with wrong light, $8, by this point I felt totally cheated and put out. I would not trade with "ED" especially, he says what he thinks you want to hear (Oh no problem we will be sure you are happy etc"), until cash is involved then it is only if I have to and as little as possible, they substitute more expensive units then say "OH I had to pay more for the second one" and that is the way it is. rather than actually check why it was so much more.

Worst customer service ever! Prices may be cheaper, but wow, they tell you it's coming in a week and six weeks later you are still waiting and have to call them for answers. If you don't mind waiting and getting a bunch of run around, this is the place for you!

I was determined to find lighting I loved on a budget. I wasn't interested in dropping a few thousand on a few light fixtures when I had an entire house to renovate. Searched high & low. I hit them all - big box, online, outlets, independents, craigslist. City West, by far, had the best selection hands down. Found several light fixtures I needed - and loved - at tremendous values.
