I found myself at Hortons after being referred there by a number of people. I was having a difficult time making lighting selections for a current construction project and found the staff to be incredibly helpful and attentive. Within 30 minutes I was able to make my selections and have a quote printed for me to bring back to my contractor. When I logged on to leave this review I was shocked to see the one star left by "Albert M". Horton's is an asset to the community.

It appears as if Albert created a Yelp account solely to sound off on how "annoyed" he was that a store was allowing customers to make their own choices when it comes to masks. I am going to go out on a limb here and assume Albert was wearing an N95 mask. He seems very knowledgeable on COVID protocols so one would expect him to be up to date on the newest science which tells us cloth masks do not stop aerosols. An N95 is personally protective--it's efficacy does not rely on the number of other people also wearing them.

For Albert to try and harm the reputation of a local business is "disrespectful" and also selfish and arrogant. We are lucky any small businesses survived in the past two years. It certainly does not help a community to be attacking the ones that did. Perhaps Albert should find a new store to shop at or stay forever confined to his home placing his orders on Amazon.

Love Horton's Lighting! Helpful staff, wonderful selection and they help you when there's not the right item in stock and are great with all else lighting like bulb selection and switches! Salespeople are amazing and check-out staff so kind - at register and pick-up!

A lot of wonderful tiles and stone sheets, for all style decor.

Great staff, cool lighting indoor and out doors as well as ceiling fans. Prices high on seasonal items but they have some really interesting stuff. Love the neighborhood feel and the size is much bigger than it looks. They have EVERYTHING to fix anything in a home.

Knowledgeable, helpful service. Competitive pricing. Fantastic selection at a very wide range of price points. The person helping us found fixtures that both my daughter and I really loved, something that rarely happens. Definitely worth the drive. I am so glad Lightology (my previous lighting place) was closed on Saturday. That got us to make the drive and we are so glad we did.

Fabulous place. Been buying light fixtures and other items from here for years. Very knowledgeable staff who really know lighting and design. I have never been disappointed. Broad selection of prices. Lights are returnable if they don't look good in your space when you get home although I have never had to do that. They also have all the fancy, cool bulbs available. I think lighting is more important than you realize and Hortons is so helpful.

Two stores in one! The upper level is the Hortons Home Lighting, a massive display of about any kind of lighting fixture one could possibly imagine. The chains don't even come close. The lower level is a complete, full-service hardware store, operating under the auspices of the Ace Hardware franchise. Ace Hardware is also a rarity now, carrying Craftsman tools, which used to be widely available at Sears which is now near-defunct.

I needed a warranty exchange for a hardly-used Craftsman ratchet wrench. There was NOWHERE else around that carries them anymore. Except Ace. So I schlep over. They did not have it in stock. I looked it up before I went and it was currently being sold. I did have to prompt the guy, asking if he could order it. So he goes over to his computer terminal, spends a few minutes and announces that, yes, he can order it. Fills out some paperwork, I go to the cashier, in a week I get a call that the item is in and a few days later go to pick it up.

Easy and painless. All staff there very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for hardware and Craftsman tools (such that they are anymore, now made in China). No other place around. If you do need a warranty replacement, do check its status online before going. Craftsman supposedly has a number to call for warranty replacement - but we all know how those call centers usually go. Plus likely having to pay out of pocket for shipping.

I don't know what to say because everything was perfect. Our sales rep, Ann, did a phenomenal job of showing us what we want and sat with us throughout the entire process. We bought 7 fixtures and are ordering 3 more on Monday. They have a huge selection and can order you pretty much anything! We met the owner John and you can tell he's such a humble gentleman that takes good care of his team. If you want the most perfect experience of shopping for lighting fixtures, get your behind to Hortons ASAP.

Great experience. Robin Harrison was great with researching all the low voltage equipment I needed for an older under cabinet lighting system. She also made recommendations for a separate touch pad low voltage system and was able to order it promptly. Thanks for all your help! Ryan

My husband and I came here on 8/14/20. It was a Friday night and we shopped for an hour trying to find the perfect pendent. (We found it and love it) For the entire hour that we walked around the store, not one person said Hello, How are you, Do you need help finding anything. However, white customers were being waited on hand over foot. I heard employees asking patrons 3 feet away from me if they were finding everything okay.

At a time when racial inequities are at an all time high it is apparent and glaringly obvious how Hortons views minorities. Hortons has a great selection of lighting, a selection for all budgets and all design esthetic. But know that if you are a minority you will not be given adequate service and that is alarming.

We ordered all of our outdoor lights from here. They were very helpful, and even though we ran into a few hiccups along the way, they had fantastic customer service, and they went out of their way to make sure things were right. Overall they had the best quality products compared to a few other places we visited. Our order was very large, so we did our research too. We will definitely use them again

I need small machine screws. Stainless steel ones. And in metric. I skip right to Horton's Ace Hardware. Not only was I helped right away when walking down the stairs, but they had what I needed and recommended some loc-tite, which I would have forgotten (and would have needed to make another trip). These people are fantastic. We've bought big stuff from them too. snowblowers, grills, and lighting.

They have assembled things and delivered (quickly) - I don't recall paying an assembly or delivery fee, but could be incorrect. If I did it must have been quite reasonable. Staff has been fantastic every time that I am in there. This place is legit. There is the faint smell of fertilizer and grass seed at the bottom of the stairs. My one complaint is weekend hours. I wish that they were open later on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm guessing that not enough people share my wish or they would be.

The store is Absolutely stunning and they have a myriad of lighting to choose from. the hard part was deciding which ones to get! Heather helped me and was fantastic! I ended up buying 3 pieces and I was really happy with the selection and service. I do Interior Design work and just moved to the area and I will come here for all my lighting needs in the future!

Joe was extremely helpful troubleshooting lighting issues on our fan that we had previously purchased at this store. With his expertise we were able to solve our problem quickly and with an inexpensive solution. Thank you Joe for your excellent service!

I'm an Interior Designer from New York, I heard about Hortons Lighting. I found there selection in the showroom to be good the staff was very helpful. They even offered to go through the catalogs that they had to find what I was looking for.

Everytime I go to the basement "ACE" I say "I've never been able to stump you but I'll bet I can today". But as they always do, they have just what I need. The staff couldn't be more helpful if they tried. Just wish they were open later on Saturdays, and maybe Sundays. I always leave happy.

Hortons used be known for their customer service. I bought a sale fixture with all the parts. The young man who helped me to the car failed to include the parts that connects the shades to the fixtures. I returned to Hortons. I had photo of fixture and the shades. I went to the lightning department and found the women to be not the least bit helpful and passive aggressive. They decided it was as is. This was not my mistake. Home Depot better service and prices from now on.

I love Horton's. Everything about it from lighting to finding an odd little bolt. They could not be more helpful and courteous. It's one of my favorite go to places for the right answer!

Just purchased a high end grill from this Horton's Ace location. Upon delivery it was completely scratched and in unacceptable condition. With repeat calls to the store, only replacement parts have been offered. It's a shame to have to write this for a local place. We were debating with buying from Amazon or Home Depot but wanted to shop local.

Horton's is a great place to go. Not only is their selection amazing but the friendly, knowledgeable staff is worth the trip. Love this place and you will too!

Very Friendly, helpful, and knowledgable associates throughout the store (Hardware, Lighting, and Cashier). Found all the items I needed. Loyalty program with coupons helps offset any higher prices over big box, plus sale prices.

I had visited the Hortons in Lincoln Park, where I live. That store is great, but I heard that the store in La Grange was much larger, so I rented a car and headed out to the burbs in my seemingly eternal quest for light fixtures. It was worth the drive, as I found the perfect items. I even managed to pick up a few Benjamin Moore sample pots while I was there.

If your tastes veer toward the slightly more traditional, it might be worth a trip to La Grange, as well as to the Horton's outlet in Orland Park. The La Grange store has a much broader selection of traditional chandeliers than the Lincoln Park store does, as befits the neighborhood. It also has a bunch of huge fixtures, for those of you lucky enough to live in a house or apartment that can accommodate them. Orland Park also had several traditional chandeliers the day I was there, but it's more of a luck-of-the-draw kind of place. Now if I could just decide on my paint colors.

The employees at this store are the rudest people in the world. They treat customers like idiots. Yesterday - two women in lighting - one of ten named Rande - treated me like I had a communicable disease. If you want to be treated with respect - don't go to Hortons.

Went to the Ace section of the store looking for bulbs and needed some paint for a project. Nevin was the guy who helped me and couldn't have been nicer but he was so helpful and knowledgeable about my electrical issue. Worth the trip.

You can absolutely customize your home with such beautiful accents from this store! While I've only window shopped (way out of my price range), I've always seen friendly employees giving one-on-one guidance and help to other customers. I love that they stay on top of changing their inside and window decor to match the season. Everything in there is seriously so pretty, and I think they could accommodate any style or look that you are trying to achieve!

If you need lighting you need to come to Hortons. They have an amazing selection. No matter what your style is Horton's as it. They also have a smallish inventory of furniture. I don't think you will get a screaming deal here but I would much rather support this gem of local, independent business than a big box store. Downstairs is a large True Value hardware store so you can pick-up light bulbs for the spiffy new lamps you scored here.

They have a large private parking lot which is a bonus in downtown La Grange. Also, the building itself was once a department store. That's my trivia tip for the day. Now go to Hortons.
