Fantastic experience with Wolfer's Lighting in particular Mary Ann Rose who went above and beyond to help us replace a broken clip on a light that we had purchased several years earlier. Without her going the extra mile with her supplier contact we would have had to replace the entire fixture. If you value great service I would recommend Wolfers Lighting.

This place was recommended by my electrician, when I told him I did not find what I want at Lowe's, Home depot or Ikea. At Wolfers Lighting, there is a wide variety of lights, even a amazing mirror with light and an integrated mail/video/music player. Not all are available in this showroom, but you can count on the help of a lighting designer to help you find the right one. Thanks to Christine NB: I'd have put a 5 stars with a little bit more of lights in the showroom. Some test spots were empty.

A good selection of lamps and lighting related products on display in useful settings. We went in the middle of the day; I think an evening visit might be a better way to see the light the display models cast. What's really good is the expertise of the Wolfers staff; Bob G had us rethink our plans after walking through them with him. Justifiably pricey.

I met with a designer at Wolfers to learn the differences in recessed lighting. He offered a great introduction and various options. He had a bit of an attitude when I did not agree with some of his suggestions. Even though Wolfers' prices were a bit higher than others I decided since the designer spent time with me I should go with them. I was not disappointed with the product, but the customer service was awful.
I picked my order up and when I opened the box before the electrician came I found that I was missing items. I called and spoke with a woman and explained the issue. She spoke with the warehouse person and was told he remembered putting "the whole order" in my car. I explained that was not correct and told her that only 2 boxes were placed in my car.
The warehouse person insisted he gave the complete order. I kept saying the order was incomplete. She then told me to send a picture of the open box and contents. I did. She then questioned me what was under the bubble wrap that I had taken out of the box (more bubble wrap). She did not actually call me a liar, but her comments were rude, strongly suggesting I was not telling the truth and reporting the warehouse person remembered putting the "whole order in the car." I felt attacked and became upset since they were questioning my integrity.
I suggested they go back to the warehouse and look to see if perhaps a box was overlooked (I would think this would have been the first thing this woman would have suggested, but again, awful customer service). They did and guess what.they found the rest of my order. The design consultant were knowledgeable and products reliable. But the customer service was awful.
I do not recommend this company. When I have told people of my experience many have commented that since Wolfers is no longer associated with Standard Electric their customer service has gone down. Through my experience, I can vouch for that.

Susan has incredible knowledge of the products they have on the showroom floor as well as the depth of the catalogs from which Wolfer's can source more unique pieces. After showing her two or three lamps that we liked, and describing a bit of our tastes, she got it in one and picked out a table lamp that was (a) completely aligned to our preferences and tastes (b) something we would never have thought to ask for, but were pleasantly surprised by (c) competitively priced.

I was very excited about this store. However I was turned off early on by the female associate who seemed perturbed, bored and was unsmiling. Threw a catalog at me and left. She was distracted and unhelpful. She had nothing to say about the items I selected for more information and was abrupt. She didn't care that I left after a while. Guess they don't care because they were busy enough. I found better service elsewhere for my remodel and that goes a long way no matter how nice the products are. Beautiful selections but would not spend my money here.

I've worked with Wolfers over the years on my slowly-unfolding home renovation, and their customer service is amazing. I particularly recommend Joe Power (Waltham), who has gone above and beyond for me--e.g. going to great lengths to ensure one manufacturer fulfilled the terms of their warranty, even when they pushed back. Joe is also incredibly friendly; the embodiment of what customer service should be. Highly recommend!

We've shopped at Wolfers for years and always appreciated being able to see their many stylish light fixtures actually lit up in their showroom. We made another purchase recently of a special order fixture, and when there was a problem they were able to send a replacement part directly to our house free of charge. The customer service can't be beat.

Joe Power has always been an extraordinary person to work with at Wolfers Lighting. We live in southern Rhode Island on the coast and when we needed lighting for our new home, Joe and Wolfers were the go to combination. We clearly had other closer choices, but we valued Joe's reputation and knowledge to help us outfit our home with all our lighting needs. Joe's the best in the business.

I have been trying To come to this store for months. I finally got here and they're not open on Sundays which is my fault for not looking. Why they're closed on Sundays.? perhaps they don't cater to homeowners and more towards designers and commercial businesses? Anyhow I finally make it here and I have my 18 month old with me - I let her walk around because I know her limits (if she breaks it I buy it right?).
And every single person that worked at this business either stared at me or condescendingly came up to me (to see if the reason she was crying was because she burnt herself on a lamp?) or were short with me or just long stared at me. I asked for help from one person from some older lady and she was just waspy and bitchy to me. I know I look young and I have a baby with me and that sucks for me but holy crap I will never buy from this store.

I've purchased most of the lighting fixtures for my dining room, living room and bedrooms from Wolfers Lighting. I'm very pleased with the selection and choices I've made. Joe Powers always eager to please and professional, provided me with all the technical info needed to make the right choices. Joe did a terrific job following up on my orders and making sure I was fully satisfied with the product! I've had a great experience overall!

I could not be more pleased with the service I had at Wolfers Lighting! I had the pleasure to work with Joe, who was extremely friendly and assisted to help me find the perfect Chandelier for my home, even dealing with a very tight timeline. I would very highly recommend using Wolfers Lighting to individuals seeking lighting for their home. A big thank you to Wolfers & Joe.

Just this weekend I visited Wolfer's Waltham. It's not easy finding a lighting store so when I uncovered them within a Google search, I felt the ride from NH was worth it and it was. Tom S was the associate that helped me. He gets an A+! I purchased a pendent light and a light for over my DR table. Tom was very helpful. The only reason I'm not rating the business a 5 has nothing to do with Customer Service or the actual product as I would post a 5 easily on both but pricing is a bit on the higher side. My guess is, as another reviewer wrote, that I can find the items less pricey on line but I like the personal touch so I will come back again.

I had a wonderful experience with Wolfers and Bob Grossman in sales. I had ordered recessed lighting fixtures from another vendor who was terrible to work with and had left a few parts off of my order. After calling the manufacturer, I learned that I could order the parts through Wolfers. Bob was quick to respond and highly professional. I wish that I had placed the entire order with Wolfers to start, but I will definitely be buying the other fixtures I need through them in the future.

My wife and I bought an expensive ceiling fan in early June from Woolfers. We hired an electrician to install it and it was too low. It could hurt us if we stood up. We returned it and got our money back. We proceeded to buy another more expensive ($750) fan from Woolfers and they told us it would take 2 weeks. 6 weeks later it arrived. Once again we hired the electricians and the light did not work.
We were told by Woolfers to call the manufacturer, Minda Aire. They sent out a part and 1 week later the electricians returned. The light still did not work! We returned it and we were never reimbursed for the electrical work. Went to Home Depot, bought a ceiling fan for $150. It works like a charm. Lesson learned---avoid Woolfers!

I have come to understand over the years that lighting is one of the most important aspects to any room design, and from what I have seen from renovations I have watched, it is one of the last to be considered. That's too bad, because you can decorate a room worthy of Architectural Digest, but if you don't light it correctly, you've lost the opportunity to bring it from beautiful to striking.
Though I have known that lighting has always been my weak area (no matter how many lighting books I buy), when I decided to design my bucket list kitchen this was one expert I knew it would be worth paying for. I found the perfect person in Susan Arnold of Wolfers in Waltham (there is also a location in Brighton but the Waltham designer seemed a better fit for my needs ).
I haven't for a moment regretted my decision. Susan went above and beyond in helping design the best lighting configuration possible. There are at least seven zones of lighting throughout the space (now two rooms since a wall came down between kitchen and dining room). I never thought I would have needed so many different lighting areas, but I use every one of them in different ways.(Plus, Susan didn't try to up sell me.
She showed my lights across various budget spectrum, and demonstrated each.) I went for the programmable system, where I can push one button on a controller and all seven zones will adjust to preset lighting levels. Six different "mood" presets can be programmed. Susan's expertise in lighting is just one of the aspects for which to recommend her.
She was also incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and patient when helping me understand everything from the process of what happens and when in lighting installation down to finding a light we loved but could not locate anywhere. She calmed me down at my most anxious times and was enthusiastic with me when we figured out just the right lights to go in the space.
She immediately got both my vision and my OCD nature, and, bless her, worked with both. In addition, she worked as needed with my contractor's electrician. The rare times she wasn't available, the staff at the Waltham location stepped in to help out with whatever I needed. I likely won't be doing many other major renovations anytime soon. But if or when I do, a lighting designer will be one of the first things I add into the budget. I just hope Susan will still be on the job.

Went on a Thursday evening when they have extended hours. One salesman on duty and he was cheerful, not pushy, and gave me the exact right amount of attention and information. I have been a few years ago when they were busier and pushy but this experience was great. Wolfers focuses on modern styles that are fun and stylish. Prices are NOT cheap so this ain't no discount joint. Disappointingly one floor model had intermittent wiring, and I'd hope for these prices they could withstand the beating, but maybe the kids really play hard on some of these.

As an antidote to the number of negatives for this shop, I'd like to offer my own experience. I was advised by my electrician to make an appointment or to be there early for best service. I showed up at 9 in the morning with a list of what I was looking for, a few images on my phone of things I liked. The showroom is eye candy, organized by theme and application.
I was given a tour, we talked about my list, and Susan selected three catalogs for me to look at based on my interests. Everyone was helpful, cheerful, and happy to help. I ordered a fixture with a three week lead time, and everything arrived according to expectations.

Shows how absurd Yelp is. I've competed with Wolfers for over 30 years in the Boston market. Wolfers has always been and is still currently known now with-in the industry of having outstanding customer service. Anyone who gives them less than a 5 star review simply does not get it and does not understand the uniquely high level of service that they do provide that is so rare to find today.

Rude, dismissive, condescending and arrogant staff - on top of a VERY limited selection (read below) and SUPER OVERPRICED products. Save yourself a trip to allston, and shop online. After reading the other reviews, i guess i should have read them before leaving the house. Not much has changed here in the past 5 years it seems. When we walked in, we could see some of the paper shuffling staff in the back room, but they clearly were all on break, and as a result, there was no one to help us.
After several minutes and several PA pagers for assistance at the front desk, a lady approached us, and after a very short introduction said she actually cannot help us because she has an appointment in 45 minutes. Several minutes later - out came Bobby, the showroom manager, who accosted us for not knowing how tall the ceilings were, what we wanted, and how many of each. Needless to say we are not contractors, just a young couple remodeling a house, and this is the first time we set foot in a lighting store (all of which we explained before the barrage of condescending questions and insults).
Then came the explanation of all those things we should know as contractors, builders, electricians, etc., but do not know and thus she cannot help us find the kind of light we want. Then came the arguments: there is only one kind of LED bulb for this fixture, says bobby. "I saw similar bulbs with several LED cells/lenses" says I. "No" said bobby, "this is the only thing that fits". OK, how about pricing -just for kicks we walked in to a home depot.
Everything there was about 300-400% more expensive for the exact same product then it is at Home depot and the home depot shelves are stocked with about 6-7 different LED bulbs which fit these fixtures. Instead of service we got attitude, who ever buys anything here? i do not know. Perhaps people who do not yet have the "internet" in the house yet.

Apparently, Customer Service is an issue all-around. I had a broken fan-blade on an older ceiling fan that needed replacing. I was just looking for a little guidance, and didn't have a lot of information regarding the fan (I'm in a rental property). On my way to Home Depot, I passed Wolfers and thought I'd give it a shot. Fair warning.you'll get far better customer service at Home Depot.
I approached the gentleman (for lack of a better term) and told him my son had accidentally broken one blade on the ceiling fan and though I knew it was a long shot, could he look up the information based on the model number I had. He looked down his nose at me and said "Well, that's not how it works. The blades are all balanced, you need to replace the fan entirely. Sounds like it's time for a new fan for you." I explained that wasn't going to happen, as I was a renter and it wasn't my call.
I told him I'd be willing to replace all five blades if necessary to achieve "balance" as he called it. The clerk did look up the information I had, but as I thought, to no avail. I inquired if knowing the size of the fan I could possibly obtain five blades (again, I was looking for guidance or information). He stated "Nope, it's definitely time for a new fan." I again reiterated "No, that's not up to me" to which he stated : "Then I Wish You the Best of Luck!" Yes, those were the words he used, but his tone told me I was dismissed.
He sounded like Willy Wonka at the end of the original movie when he snipped "You LOSE! Good Day Sir!" (The link below is a refresher) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKG07305CBs Not wanting to stoop to his level, or to level him, I left the store fuming. I did call manager Joyce, who apologized profusely and told me to please ask for her the next time I came in.
I explained to her that the folks at Home Depot were far more knowledgeable and pleasant (directing me to a possible replacement blade), and that unfortunately, there would be no next time. You would think these independent stores would be bending over backwards to gain/retain customers over the corporate giants, but apparently, because I only wanted a single blade or information, I did not warrant the time of day. Stay away from Wolfers. Overpriced and under-friendly.

Wolfers may be on the pricey side of things, but damn, the things they offer are pretty to very nice, the lighting showroom is better and better located than many others options. I like all the people who work here a great deal. They have always been helpful and accommodating as seemingly possible. Good for the designer, architect, homeowner, or electrical contractor in you.
