Two years ago, I wrote a 5 star review for Grand Light for the work it did at the New Haven Museum. I worked with the owners & crew for many months and became quite familiar with their operation. Since then, GL has moved to Seymour, CT and, as far as I know, pretty much closed their lighting show room. GL now specializes in the rehabilitation of antique fixtures and has done excellent work all over the country.
The negative reviews I've read surprised me greatly. If you are looking for something special, or to rehabilitate an old fixture, GL will do the job. But, if you just want to buy a new light fixture, go to your local store or one of the big box outlets. Christine Schloss, Ph. D. History of Art, Yale University

I bought a James R. Moder Lamp from these people on E-bay on October 12, 2015. I specifically asked Grand Lighting what type of crystals were on this lamp and they stated Spectra Swarovski. They were actually acrylic beads - and the felt base had fallen off. I went to the James R. Moder rep who said the lamp was a bad fake. I tried to return it and they refused at first until I went to Ebay and disputed the transaction.
After many e-mails and phone calls to E-bay and Grand Lighting, Grand Lighting finally sent a return label. They received the lamp but according to them, the lamp base was now damaged. Luckily, I took about 20 photos of how carefully it was shipped and how impossible it would have been to be damaged that way. Per E-bay's instructions, Grand Lighting were due to refund the money on November 6th, and that very day, they escalated the claim with E-bay and therefore, delayed refunding my money. Finally, on November 13,o ne month later, I was able to access my refund. Look at Yahoo Local - lots of unhappy clients.

I have done business with the owners of the New Grand Light for several years. Our first project was to restore three antique crystal chandeliers and many brass sconces for The New Haven Museum. They also installed better color lighting to enhance the paintings. Knowing that we were working with a small monetary grant, they graciously gave us discounts to make it all possible. Later, I asked them to help me install up-to-date lighting in and around my own house.
In the time I've worked with them, the company morphed from a traditional lighting showroom to one specializing in the restoration of antique lighting fixtures. To this end, they moved from New Haven to a facility in Seymour, CT, where they have the machinery and space for this specialized work. They also design fixtures & help homeowners with their lighting needs. I recommend the NGL for this type of work. Christine Skeeles Schloss, Ph. D.

This lighting supplier deserves zero stars. I ordered lights the first week of April and was told they would arrive in two to four weeks. That would have been fine except they arrived in the middle of June. After numerous calls and being told stories that they would arrive, I finally had to file a complaint with the credit card company to reverse the payment.
All of a sudden the lights are at my door. By the way, the packing list with the lights indicated that Grand Light paid a "Rush Charge" to the manufacturer. Sorry, but they have lost this customer for good.
