Came into Grand Rapids Lighting Center in search of 3 new ceiling fans for a new house we recently purchased in Grand Rapids. We also needed to replace a number of light fixtures. When I asked to see the ceiling fans, I was escorted to the area and then abandoned, despite having a lot of questions. I saw a number of light fixtures that may have worked. However, the lack of attentiveness of the staff encouraged me to shop elsewhere.

We bought lighting for our master bathroom. Loved the selection and the fact that you could see the lights on display. Now I'm looking for dining table lighting. There are so many different styles that it could be overwhelming but the gentleman helping me took the time to learn more about my project and directed me. The store was busy but he continued to circle back to answer questions. I learned so much from him. Great place to shop.

Ok, the good. 1.5 hours from home. 5 light fixtures purchased. They were in stock. We drove home with the fixtures. The bad. The store was busy. We had to work with two different reps to complete our task. Fixtures are expensive, but they offered a discount. Who knows? The ugly: One fixture was damaged, repaired finish at home. Fixtures came with lamps.why did I spend $60 for lamps.oh well.spares. Overall 4.5 stars. We got fixtures, installed them, and its done. One trip. In stock. Yes I would recommend the Grand Rapids Lighting Center.

The bald salesman was rude. I showed him a photo of the look that I was going for and he cut me off and snapped "that's not a brand we carry". I also got the feeling that he looked down on me because at first, I inquired about replacing the glass on my pendant lights. He said would probably be a better value to replace the whole light- which is fine! I'm pretty sure I'll do that. I went into the store instead of shopping online because I wanted to support a local business and was disappointed to be treated like that.

I really appreciated the time and effort the staff put into helping me get a new light. So hands down i thank them for doing that. Also the guy that worked with me had great knowledge of lighting for the designated areas you wanted to install a light for like indoor or outdoor or what general room indoor to place a light. I did not know you had to have moisture resistant lighting in some areas which i strongly approve of his knowledge and other workers were on top of making sure i had the help and satisfaction i needed so great staff. My only downfall was i did not like the prices and the availability of some of the product and wait times to put one on order. Other than that great store

I just moved to GR and this place was close. I went in on Monday 8/3. First thing i noticed was customers NOT wearing masks. Then the employee wasn't wearing her mask properly, it wasn't covering her noise. Then ALL the EMPLOYEES i saw to the right in there cubicles NOT A SINGLE ONE was wearing a mask, not even hanging from an ear. I then waited 10 minutes for ANY help!
Finally a young gentalmen asked me if i had been helped i said no, he apologised and called for help over the intercom. There were so many other issues. There were two other woman trying to receive help and were getting just as frusterated at the lack of service and professionalism taking place! DO NOT SHOP HERE. I will gladly drive the 1hr round trip to The Lighting Corner in Grandville were they have safe, FRIENDLY, excellent service.
Finally a young gentalmen asked me if i had been helped i said no, he apologised and called for help over the intercom. There were so many other issues. Agree with other poster about misleading biannual beat the clock 40% off sale. Drove a long way to purchase 3 ceiling fans only to be informed that they are not 40% off but only 20% since they are on sale and 40% off only applies to full price merchandise (attached price to item says 'our sale price', which by itself is ambiguous). To add insult to injury, all items bought during the store sale are non-refundable!
Same item on Amazon has an everyday price that is 70 dollars cheaper per item, qualifies for free shipping, and can be returned/refunded! I understand the store is independent and needs to make money but to price something at a 15% markup before shipping and advertising it as your biggest sale is not the way to get customers. No attempt at price matching isn't either. Their 'regular' price is 45% over Amazon's! Highly suggest comparing their prices for everything before making a purchase.

I entered the store during the day time and there were no other customers. A woman was at the front counter, then another worker joined her. As I walked slowly around the entire store, I could hear them discussing personal Thanksgiving plans. After spending 15 minutes in the store as the only customer and receiving not so much as a "hello", I walked out. Service is everything; I will now purchase online!
